“Holding On” is one of my favorite window paintings in the portrait series! It was just purchased this weekend. I am thrilled to know that it will be given as a gift. The portraits are a series of paintings that I created by painting simple contour outlines of a particular person I know well on one side of the window. I then flip the glass and add colour on the other side. This creates a terrific smooth glossy effect. I can employ a very emotional finger painting style to these “portraits”. (Frida Kahlo said, “I paint myself because I am the person I know best”.) There are four more paintings to view at a coffee shop in Conshohocken at the intersection of Ridge Pike and Butler Pike. Come by and choose one for a friend! Featuring this month: SweatShirt, Drift Away, Harbor Town and Sitting in the Window. Windows can be viewed also at www.Waltkeys.com
I am proud to say that after several years, I am returning to record Georgie Bonds’ second CD. I’ll be the only original member of Georgie’s legendary Philadelphia band making an appearance on this, Georgie’s newest release. The big news is… I recorded all the original rhythm tracks on organ instead of piano. I am really thrilled that Neil Taylor, guitarist and composer of many of the songs on Georgie’s CD, asked me to do this. I’ve always considered myself a pianist first and foremost. I can’t wait to hear what the critics have to say about my first real effort on the Hammond A100!
